Standing ovations at the Fazioli Hall

The first three concerts of the 13th Fazioli Concert Hall Series have already featured brilliant pianists, like Beatrice Rana, Yevgeny Yontov and Nathalia Milstein.

The 24-year-old Italian pianist Beatrice Rana has already performed in the world’s most prestigious concert halls: from the Wigmore Hall to the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, from the Konzerthaus in Berlin to the Toppan Hall in Tokyo, next to conductors of the caliber of Zubin Metha, Antonio Pappano, Fabio Luisi and Juraj Valchua. An exclusive Warner Classics recording artist, she was named a BBC New Generation Artist in September 2015. On November, 3rd at the Fazioli Concert Hall the audience gave her a standing ovation, after a remarkable programme about Schumann and Liszt.

A student of Arie Vardi at the University of Tel Aviv and then at the Yale School of Music, the 28-year-old Yevgeny Yontov is among the finalists of the last edition of the “Arthur Rubinstein” Piano Competition, where he was awarded as Best Israeli Pianist and for the Best Chamber Music Performance. At our invitation, Yontov has promptly accepted to meet the Italian Quartetto Adorno in Sacile for the very first time. The result was a sort of exciting and intense chamber music workshop, ending with a great concert featuring piano quintets by Shostakovich and Brahms. On stage five precious Italian instruments: the Carlo Bergonzi “Mischa Piastro” violin of 1739 kindly lent by the Pro Canale Foundation; a Romeo Antoniazzi violin of 1912; a Guastalla viola of 1928; a Giuseppe Sgarbi cello of 1880... and the Fazioli F278 "Magic Merlin", of course!

We met Nathalia Milstein in Tel Aviv, where, in May 2017, she chose the Fazioli concert grand for all the rounds of the prestigious Rubinstein Competition she played in. Before that, we got to know her sister, the renowned violinist Maria Milstein, on the occasion of a Trio recording at our Fazioli Concert Hall. Therefore, it was a spontaneous wish of ours to have them play a Duo concert in our series. The programme, featuring music by Stravinsky, Ravel, Debussy and Saint-Saens, was among the most refined ever in our series: one hour and a half of blissful "chamber music" played by two distinctive souls as if using one single mind.

The year 2018 FCH will start off wonderfully on January, 19th with the concert of an exceptional Duo: Olli Mustonen-Steven Isserlis.
